Xinhua News Agency, Kuala Lumpur, January 3 (Reporter Lin Hao) The Malaysian Badminton Association said on the 3rd that the association’s coaching director Huang Zonghan has confirmed that he has contracted the new crown virus, but the national team is still allowed to participate in the upcoming Thailand Open.

            The Malaysian Badminton Association stated in a statement that before the Malaysian team set off for Thailand, Huang Zonghan tested positive for the new crown virus. He is currently asymptomatic and has been quarantined in accordance with the regulations of Malaysian health authorities.

            The statement said that with the exception of Huang Zonghan, nearly 40 other players and coaches of the Malaysian team tested negative. With the approval of relevant government departments, the Malaysian team will depart for Bangkok on the 4th as planned.

            The statement said that after arriving in Bangkok, the Malaysian team members will be quarantined for one week in accordance with the organizer’s requirements. While in Thailand, Malaysian team athletes, coaches and officials will undergo 5 to 7 tests.
